Scoutbook is the main way the pack communicates. We will send periodic email through scoutbook in order to keep the pack up to date on upcoming events, sign up genius', and regular pack news.
For new members, as soon as they register their scout with the pack they will automatically get a scoutbook temporary user name and password. This will allow the registered user to recieve emails from the pack. They will also get full authority to modify the scouts profile and add achievements.
Entering Advancements
Through Scoutbook the parent can add all advancements that the scout has made through out the scouting season. In order to do this, the parent must first go to the scouts profile. Here you see all of the advancement that scout has made if any. If you want to add an achievement, scroll down a little and click on the scout advancement tab. From there you can enter the advancements that the scout has made, i.e. Bobcat achievement, Tiger achievement -> Tiger Bites, etc. For more information click on the You Tube video below the screen shot. The video is long but the first 8 minutes or so gets into adding advancements. Parents must in sure that their child's advancements are entered into scoutbook by the end of the month, as we distribute achievements at the end of each monthly pack meeting.
Adding another parents email to your scouts profile
One of the most common questions asked by parents is how to do I add my spouse's email to the mailing list. The key here is both parents need a scoutbook account and they both have to be connected to the new scout. So when one parent registers their child for scouts, then that parent will begin to receive the scoutbook emails from the pack. In order to add another parents email to that scout, so they both can receive email, the second parent must be invited to join scoutbook. In order to do that, the first parent logs into scoutbook and clicks on their child's profile. When in the child profile, click on the scout connections (see image below). From there click on "+Add" button. If the other parent has a already has created a scoutbook account, then you can search by using their BSA number if you know it, or name, city, and state.
If they do not have a scoutbook account, then use the box titled "Create New Adult Account" to invite the other parent to scoutbook. The first parent will select the level the new parent will have (usually Parent/Guardian). An email will be sent to that new parent with a user name and temporary password. Once the new parent logs in they will be automatically connected to the scout and start receiving emails about the scout meetings.
